Overview

I'm a professional general manager with experience in government and industry. I've recently been the CEO of a manufacturing plant for digital cameras and, currently, the Executive Director of the Ottawa Flying Club. I got involved with open source software through a contract with eseri.com which provides a fully open-source corporate IT solution.

Domain Expertise

As a general manager, I deal with the high-level issues facing corporations in areas of strategy, finance, HR, R&D, marketing, operations and stakeholder relations. I have an MBA from the University of Ottawa and M.Eng in Electrical Engineering from the Royal Military College.

I truly enjoy improving the operating performance of organizations.

I've been involved in software and databases since punched cards, FORTRAN and dbase II.

Adempiere Implementations

I'm part way through my first implementation of ADempiere at the Ottawa Flying Club. ADempiere will replace a collection of software used to manage the booking system, POS and accounting functions. These legacy systems did not talk to each other and required hand transcription from one to the other. Management information was dispersed across the systems and very difficult to access. ADempiere will allow me to generate improve the efficiency of the organization substantially while also increasing the accuracy of management and performance related inforamtion.

Adempiere Contributions

I'm still learning but have been adding to the wiki and identifying bugs where I can.

I used code_swarm software to put together a short video showing the history of the ADempiere Source Forge Project.
