(10:53:02) JoelS [~4b64bbbd@gateway/web/freenode/x-nnrtvybkdfbsshbl] entered the channel.
(10:59:59) CarlosRuiz: Hi JoelS
(11:01:51) red1 [~red1@128.223.48.60.klj04-home.tm.net.my] entered the channel.
(11:02:55) JoelS: good day functional gurus
(11:03:56) red1: hi all
(11:04:41) trifon: please don't forget constant spy Trifon here...
(11:05:01) JoelS: as long as you are spying FOR us
(11:05:11) trifon: sure.
(11:05:14) trifon: only for ADempeire
(11:05:54) CarlosRuiz: hehehe, trifon is the most assiduous attendant of all PMC meetings - what I appreciate A LOT! thanks for that
(11:06:22) trifon: i'm trying to help, but only as much as i can.
(11:06:46) trifon: that's why i can't promisse attending all meeting but only the one which i can.
(11:08:00) CarlosRuiz: JoelS: any proposal for agenda today?
(11:08:10) JoelS: ok, no agenda for today. we are doing some internal organizations that should allow us to work faster. but at the moment is hindering my effectiveness for this team
(11:08:36) JoelS: I think most important thing is to have a post-game discussion about triage day
(11:09:03) JoelS: i was checking IRC, but didnt see any activity
(11:09:32) JoelS: Carlos, and comments about what did work, what did not work, what we should do different next time?
(11:10:44) CarlosRuiz: well - independent of community these are my main goals here:
(11:10:44) CarlosRuiz: - triage
(11:10:44) CarlosRuiz: - inventory feature
(11:10:44) CarlosRuiz: - work on critical features next release
(11:10:44) CarlosRuiz: in that order, but can be worked in parallel
(11:10:45) red1: wonder what will be the main agenda
(11:11:13) red1: we going to discuss about the triage?
(11:11:36) CarlosRuiz: I'll do that with or without community support - I guess receiving external support will speed up the results
(11:12:57) CarlosRuiz: so, having said that - if you want my opinion about bug/triage day
(11:12:59) CarlosRuiz: it's dead
(11:13:17) CarlosRuiz: it's dead since maybe last august - don't remember exactly
(11:14:13) red1: there are those who try to join now and then
(11:14:26) red1: perhaps its the complexity
(11:14:35) CarlosRuiz: personally I prefer to leave wasting time on those */days and focus on PMC work
(11:14:36) red1: of the bugs themselves or ERP as it is
(11:16:21) JoelS: those 113 bugs triaged- how many did you do?
(11:17:42) JoelS: hmm- we had a person assigned all day to work on it, but i dont see any notes- will check on that
(11:18:06) CarlosRuiz: this morning I was talking about 7 habits quadrant - usability in quadrant 2
(11:18:06) CarlosRuiz: so, functional tasks are in quadrant 1 from my POV - crisis quadrant
(11:18:06) CarlosRuiz: I know one of my PMC Head goals is to encourage community to participate
(11:18:06) CarlosRuiz: but I prefer to solve the crisis first - and then think on that - at this moment bug day and triage day are just disappointing for me
(11:18:33) JoelS: ok, noted
(11:18:35) red1: noted.. and we can only do what we can..
(11:19:14) red1: the record is there.. but i personally like the google doc done by CarlosRuiz to facilitate
(11:19:16) JoelS: so for today- 1- triage, 2-past business, 3-meeting time, 4-new business
(11:19:38) red1: what about functionals?
(11:19:44) JoelS: 2- past business: any updated comments on functional inventory or critical items?
(11:22:33) JoelS: ok, no updated comments
(11:22:43) JoelS: 3- meeting time
(11:22:52) CarlosRuiz: just to round up my little rant - bug-day triage-day from my POV are just ways to get newbies and community involved
(11:22:52) CarlosRuiz: I don't expect daily contributors to be also in those days
(11:22:57) JoelS: no response or recommendation for Kai or Steven on alternat time
(11:23:32) JoelS: so I'm going to keep this meeting time since it is convenient for me
(11:23:41) JoelS: we can change later upon popular request
(11:23:58) kai7 has left the channel (quit: Quit: Bye).
(11:24:22) JoelS: i guess that is kai agreeing  :-)
(11:24:37) red1: oh, its a rant :>
(11:24:53) CarlosRuiz: did you talk with Steven? he proposed to move to thursday
(11:24:57) red1: kai's office rush hour
(11:25:32) JoelS: have not heard from him since that proposal
(11:25:49) JoelS: but I can do thursday just as well
(11:25:49) red1: any roadmap stuff?
(11:25:59) JoelS: if it is this same time
(11:26:30) JoelS: ok, done. Functional meeting moved to Thursday, same time. We'll see if that helps Steven
(11:26:52) JoelS: red1- what do you mean roadmap stuff?
(11:27:05) red1: since this is a functional meeting
(11:27:05) CarlosRuiz: I'll schedule next one - but still not periodic meeting
(11:27:15) red1: wondering if it touches on functional items, JoelS
(11:27:36) red1: or pls direct me to the right room :D
(11:28:56) JoelS: red1, so far we dont get into specifics functions, still organizing the overall approach and documents to work from
(11:29:08) red1: noted
(11:29:18) JoelS: you can review the work-product from Carlos to see our opinion of the status of the current functionality
(11:29:32) CarlosRuiz: ready - meeting set up - invited Steven
(11:29:51) JoelS: if you have something specific in mind red1, we can put on agenda for next week
(11:30:39) red1: not really JoelS .. just wondering if there can be some sort of warm up to some roadmap chatter
(11:30:39) CarlosRuiz: red1: I guess we're still here in the "initial inventory" process
(11:31:04) red1: or some overall statement of the state of functionals as a whole
(11:31:14) CarlosRuiz: and according to what I've seen in bug triage and critical features not workgin - we're in crisis
(11:31:23) red1: if we feel addons are happening.. DB is bloating.. etc
(11:31:33) red1: in a way
(11:31:52) red1: now.. i got a silly question..
(11:32:06) red1: arent bugs and functionals separate matter?
(11:32:14) red1: i tot bugs are more technical
(11:32:34) CarlosRuiz: cash journal broken is functional
(11:32:38) red1: about functionals, we can see sponsored dev, trackers activities on new stuff changes
(11:32:50) CarlosRuiz: costing non-working properly is functional
(11:32:55) CarlosRuiz: that's what I refer about crisis
(11:33:16) red1: wonder if we can mark those crisis for more focus
(11:33:17) CarlosRuiz: IMHO we need to focus on fixing first - before planning dreams
(11:33:23) red1: since we do not have an army
(11:34:27) CarlosRuiz: that's why I stated my (personal) plan at the beginning -> triage, feature inventory, stabilizing critical features
(11:34:37) JoelS: in ERP, a lot of bugs are about 'how' it should work
(11:34:51) red1: but carlos, is focus more for a specific team and not the 'everyone
(11:35:07) red1: can we then think of a specific team?
(11:35:31) CarlosRuiz: what I would like from functional group in this crisis is help on identifying, proposing solutions, validating proposed solutions, proposing tests, ...
(11:36:16) red1: so then its not so much as fixing bugs but knowing what to fix
(11:36:19) JoelS: ok- point for agenda next week
(11:36:43) JoelS: * triage day did not work, what is a better way for functional team to complete triage?
(11:37:23) JoelS: of course by 'did not work', I mean a couple key people got a lot done, but no one else helped
(11:37:41) CarlosRuiz: good point Joel - I would think better -> how can we make triage permanent (after the triage of pending things finish)
(11:38:08) CarlosRuiz: in the PMC I proposed an Issue Manager probably with such responsibility
(11:38:55) CarlosRuiz: I'm not so worried now about the 279 pending - it's a backlog of > 3 years
(11:39:02) CarlosRuiz: but, how can we make this process permanent
(11:39:16) red1: 'did not work' may sound bit negative
(11:39:18) red1: imho
(11:39:38) red1: many bug 9s are too old
(11:39:59) JoelS: Issue Manager is a good idea
(11:40:06) JoelS: ok, any other topics for next week?
(11:40:27) red1: maybe we can take smaller chunks.. reclassify some urgent bugs for next triage
(11:40:32) red1: so that team can focus better
(11:40:47) red1: ok,.. task for issue manager i guess
(11:41:09) CarlosRuiz: well - how to get community involved?
(11:41:17) CarlosRuiz: how to get companies involved to contribute people to do such work?
(11:41:29) CarlosRuiz: at this moment I see just Idalica and Metas are contributing with people
(11:41:46) CarlosRuiz: Ivan took the lead on QA - and he's doing a great job
(11:41:52) red1: i had talk with Brazil company some months ago
(11:41:55) CarlosRuiz: how can we get more Ivans for other tasks?
(11:42:01) red1: then Lin followed up in Brazil
(11:42:04) red1: will ask him now
(11:42:36) JoelS: ok, added for next week
(11:42:39) JoelS: anything else?
(11:43:45) JoelS: ok, gonna wrap the meeting for this week- see you next Thursday
(11:43:57) CarlosRuiz: thanks JoelS
(11:44:03) CarlosRuiz: thanks to all the attendants
(11:44:17) red1: thanks JoelS for running this well
(11:44:23) red1: bye all
